Tenure-line Assistant Professor in Latin Literature

The Department of Classics at Northwestern University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professorship in Latin literature, to begin September 1, 2027. We seek a specialist in Latin literature within the context of Roman culture. Candidates must demonstrate broad and innovative intellectual interests, outstanding scholarly abilities, and commitment to teaching. We are especially interested in candidates who combine a command of Latin texts with attention to performance, material culture, or reception. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s innovative undergraduate curriculum and cross-disciplinary faculty collaborations for graduate education in cognate disciplines. The position carries a teaching load of four quarter-long courses. A doctoral degree is required by the time the appointment begins.
