Associate or Full Professor of Instruction Movement/Physical Training for Theatre (Non-Tenure Eligible) The Department of Theatre is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Associate or Full Professor of Instruction with a focus on Movement for the Stage. The ideal candidate would have expertise in somatic knowledge along with mastery of one or more movement methodologies (e.g., Laban, Suzuki, Viewpoints, Rasaboxes, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Michael Chekhov, Grotowski, Pilobolus, Le Coq, etc.). Candidate must be able to teach an introductory-level movement course to equip theatre students with fundamental somatic awareness and foundational movement-based processes that allow them to develop as physically articulate and ensemble-oriented actors. Training should explore the body as a nexus for the emotional, physical, instinctual, imaginative, intellectual, spiritual, and vocal life of an actor. Additionally, this position may teach intermediate and advanced level movement courses while also providing insight, advocacy, and opportunities for collaboration across disciplines within the Acting Area, the Department of Theatre, and the School of Communication. Candidates should have a record of professional practice and/or creative activity, a terminal degree (MFA or PhD), and prior teaching experience. We may consider candidates without a terminal graduate degree if such candidates have extraordinary professional accomplishments.
