Assistant Professor of Instruction in Italian Language
Northwestern University’s Department of French and Italian invites applications for a renewable, three-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction in Italian, to begin September 1, 2022. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position that requires six units of teaching over three quarters per year. The successful candidate will work with existing faculty in Italian and will teach elementary and intermediate Italian language. Applicants will be required to demonstrate evidence of native or near-native proficiency in Italian and in English and prior experience in teaching Italian as FL/L2. PhD in Italian or in a related field required. A commitment to professional development, research, and/or creative work in language pedagogy, linguistics, or Italian studies is highly desired. We require, in addition, three letters of recommendation, at least one of which must address excellence in teaching.
