Assistant/Associate Professor in Public Health and Physical Therapy
The Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences (PTHMS) within the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor, in the non-tenure, clinician-educator track, with a primary focus in the areas of public/population/global health. Primary responsibilities will include teaching in the psychosocial aspects of human behavior and professional role development courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curriculum. We are seeking individuals with interest in furthering collaborations with Northwestern’s Institute of Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) and Center for Community Health (CCH) in research and for DPT/MPH student mentorship. Additional responsibilities of the position include research, scholarship, student advising, and service on departmental committees. Rank is commensurate with experience and credentials. Salary is negotiable. The preferred applicant will be a physical therapist eligible for Illinois licensure (required), with an earned PhD or other academic doctorate in public health with a community-based research agenda. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong scholarly record, including peer-reviewed publications and national presentations; and a successful record of developing course content and teaching public/global health and additional areas of expertise in entry-level physical therapy curricula and/or at post-professional level. In this position, the candidate will also be expected to contribute to our exceptional teaching program that is innovative, concept-structured, based on scientific evidence, and emphasizes active student learning. PTHMS is part of the vibrant educational and cultural community of Northwestern University located on the Chicago campus close to Lake Michigan and the “Magnificent Mile". PTHMS has collaborations with other institutions like Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, and other departments including IPHAM, Feinberg School of Medicine Program in Public Health, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, Emergency Medicine, Physiology, Oncology, Preventive Medicine, and Rheumatology.
